Graduation Thesis Project_Idea Development

Abstract: 

This project is to show there is never an absolute way of life, there are many “weirdos” in the world, they have always been isolated in the group, but what is the definition of “normal” and “abnormal”? There is no answer, accept the abnormal of yourself and don’t have a herd mentality, and lose yourself is the message that we would like to spread through our project. With the control by the digital component with Arduino and the content of the “Weirdos”, we would like to produce an installation that makes people reflect and give the choices for the audience in their way of life.

Implementation Plan :

We would like to use the hardware components of Arduino to control the movement of the installation. Our idea is to create different sets of the “normal” and “abnormal” action that we are facing in society nowadays, and one “abnormal” element will be surrounded by several “normal” elements, the movement will be controlled by the components of the Arduino such as the servo motor and the solenoid. There will be different action movements between the “normal” elements and “abnormal” elements to highlight the contrast between them. We would like to create several sets to increase the power of our topic. For the models to control the movements, we are planning to use the 3D modeling method and the 3D printing method create, as advised by our advisor, we would also think about using other materials that are more related to our life such as the necessities of life, but this method needs to be further developed when we start building the installation. 

For the division of labor, I will be responsible for the idea development such as keep development the content of different sets of the installation and the software development such as the coding in Arduino and the 3D models building, and Jason will be responsible for the hardware development such as the physical application of the digital components and the assembly and installation of the models and installation set up, I will also assist Jason on this part.
