 Artistic Statement

This project “Bifrost”, which means the rainbow bridge from the Norse mythology, is an installation work that presents the contrast again heterosexuality and LGBT groups and tried to present that heterosexuality is getting to respect, accept and embrace the LGBT groups without discrimination. To present the idea, this project uses 25 servos to form a grid and control the movement of the plastic drawn models.

The conflicts between heterosexuality and LGBT groups have a long history, and persecution of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders is one of the problems that the LGBT groups are facing, such as in Russia, transgender and transgender people are not eligible for a driver's license. The government says it's doing this to strengthen medical controls for motorists as Russia has too many traffic accidents. Although there are still discrimination and persecution against the LGBT groups in some countries, more and more countries and people are accepting the LGBT groups, such as the legalization of homosexuality in Taiwan. In order to show that there are no differences between heterosexuality and LGBT groups, to reduce the discrimination and bias from society, and to show raise the opinions on respecting and accepting the LGBT groups. The idea of this project is raised.

The overall vision of “Bifrost” is to reduce conflict and the sense of the difference between heterosexuality and LGBT groups, we hope that the audience can get the message from the installation and start thinking about the relationship between heterosexuality and LGBT groups. In order to present the message of the relationship between the two groups, white and rainbow color is used, and some patterns presenting the harmony between the two groups will be drawn on the plastic models, showing that they are integrating with each other presenting the difference between them are reducing. Sine the rainbow color is a sign of the LGBT group, and the white color is the output color of mixing the rainbow color, thus these two colors are used in this installation. Moreover, in order to present the changes to the heterosexuality group, this project has used the servos to control the movement of the plastic models which can give a feeling that the feelings and opinions of heterosexuality to the LGBT groups keep changing in a good way due to the generation change.

"There is no difference between heterosexuality and LGBT groups!", which is the main idea for “Bifrost”, and willing to present it through the installation!
